About Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga is Hatha Yoga as taught by BKS Iyengar and his family. It is a practice of Self-care, Self-Awareness and Self-Acceptance.
Students of Iyengar Yoga begin with elementary postures, with an emphasis on the standing asanas (postures). In time, other postures are added, including forward bends and back bends, twists, inversions and restorative poses. Salamba Sarvangasana (Shoulder Balance) is introduced as soon as students are ready because of its many therapeutic benefits. Each class ends with Savasana, corpse pose or deep relaxation. Students learn to rest in a profound way, completely releasing the body while drawing the mind towards the peace within.
This practice develops strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, clarity of the mind and openness of the heart.
A Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher can guide students of all ages and physical conditions to an experience of yoga, which is safe, accessible and rewarding. Iyengar Yoga teachers use their deep-seated knowledge of the asanas to individualize corrections for each student. Students know they are observed and, if necessary, adjusted. Clear demonstrations of the posture. A well-developed eye. Specific teaching points which awaken the body’s intelligence -- these are the marks of an Iyengar Yoga teacher.
Certified Iyengar Yoga instructors are held to an unusually rigorous standard. Only after years of training and evaluation do they become certified. Iyengar Yoga teachers modify the classic asanas (yoga postures) for individual students with the use of props -- such as blocks, blankets and belts. Props allow for a deeper penetration into the posture, as well as a longer stay.
As the student progresses, Pranayama (the control of the breath) is introduced.
Teachers devise sequences of poses, which build skill and understanding, from posture to posture, and from class to class. Students are encouraged to develop their own home practice; without one, the study of yoga is incomplete.

Lenka is a passionate, dedicated student and teacher of Iyengar Yoga Method. She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at Introductory I&II Level.
Lenka is a strong advocate of the transformative and therapeutic power of Iyengar Yoga practice and every opportunity to share the gift of yoga is profoundly rewarding to her. Her classes are challenging but safe and build on clear and precise instructions. She is known for her compassionate teaching and willingness to address everybody's individual needs.
She has practiced Iyengar yoga since 2010 and has been teaching at Yoga St Lucia studio ,Saint Lucia since 2011. She has been influenced by her teacher and mentor -Jill Hagar.
Lenka makes regular trips to USA to study with her teacher and mentor -Heather Haxo Phillips at her Adeline Yoga Studio in Berkeley, CA. She dedicates all her time to the deepening of the knowledge of Yoga, teaching and assisting classes. Over the years she has been fortunate to attend the workshops with Senior Iyengar teachers like John Schumacher, Gloria Goldberg and Carry Owerko.
Her passion for Yoga and traveling came together during her 3-month trip to India where she studied with Iyengar teacher Usha Devi
Lenka believes in the transformative power of Iyengar Yoga and she sees and experiences it's magic every day. She hopes to inspire and share her passion for this art with every person she gets to practice with.
Lenka is originally from Slovakia,Europe and often travels to visit her family and friends. She loves to explore the world,preferably as a passenger on the motorcycle. She loves to spend her free time in nature- skying, swimming or riding her bicycle.
